May 18 La Christiania Park Bird Walk Report
Half a dozen keen birders walked the perimeter of the park observing 20 species. It was a breezy day, which reduced the number of birds normally seen by one third. We saw these species:
Neotropic cormorant
Great egret
Snowy Egret
Black-crowned night heron
American coot
Inca dove
Violet-crowned hummingbird
Golden-fronted woodpecker (feeding young at nest)
Vermilion flycatcher
Great Kiskadee
Northern rough-winged swallow
Barn swallow
Bewick's wren
Curve-billed thrasher
Rufous-backed robin
Bronzed cowbird
Bullock's oriole
House finch
Lesser goldfinch
House sparrow
May 21 Hummingbirds at Flossie's Report
As usual hundreds of hummingbirds filled the trees and the feeders at Flossie's. More than a dozen people saw these species:
Broad-billed hummingbird
White-eared hummingbird
Violet-crowned hummingbird
Berylline hummingbird
Sparkling-tailed hummingbird (male & female)
