|  |  | | Kayak Birding Are you interested in taking a boat, canoe, or kayak trip along the shore of Lake Chapala or making an inventory of the bird life on Mezcala Island?

Fellow audubonista Chuck Giles and Randy Branch have 6 one-person kayaks and a 4 person canoe for rent at $80 peso per hour. We can also rent a tour launch which holds 9 persons for $300 per hour.

| | Birds of Cristiania Park June 27, 2008 at Cristiania Park in Chapala, a dozen or so birders identified some 28 species of birds. This is twice as many as we saw last year (July 17, 2007.
Here is the list (* indicates seen both years):
- Neotropic Cormorant (many in the trees out at the old shoreline)
- *Great Egret
- *Snowy Egret
- *Black Crowned Night Heron
- White faced Ibis (a dozen or more in flight)
- Mexican Duck

- Violet Crowned Hummingbird

- Vermillion Flycatcher
- Tropical Kingbird
