Report for Jocotepec Monday June 9 |
| We had a nice turn out of birds (27) and birders (14) on this, our first June outing to Jocotepec. Here is the list of sightings:
- Neotropic Cormorants (MANY)
- Great Egret
- Snowy Egret
- Cattle Egret
- Black-crowned Night Heron
- White-faced Ibis
- Mexican Duck
- American Coot
- Killdeer (defending nest from Grackles)
- Northern Jacana
- Rpck Dove
- Inca Dove
- Berylline Hummingbird
- Golden-fronted Woodpecker
- Vermillion Flycatcher
- Great Kiskadee
- Barn Swallows (gathering mud pellets for nests)
- Great-Tailed Grackle
- Brown-headed Cowbird
- House Finch
- Lesser Goldfinch
- White-collared Seedeater
- Canyon Towhee
- Lincoln Sparrow
- House Sparrow

| Hmmmm. Limited to 15 persons per seating time. 8:30, 9:30, or 10:30.
While 8:30 is the better birding, the birds will be there later as well.
Expect to see: Berylline, Violet-Crowned, Magnificent, Sparkling Tailed Woodstar, Broad-Billed, and White-Eared Hummingbirds. Don't forget your binoculars, camera, and birdbook.

| Watch a Warbler, See a Shrike, Glimpse a Gull Cristiania Park is another Lakeside birding Hot Spot. The marsh at the eastward shore of the lake is particularly abundant. We will then sample the lake shoreline and the wooded parklands.
Then we will go to Mom's Cafe in Riberas for Breakfast and the Count. From Ajijic, take the Carreterra to Chapala. Proceed straight at the semafora to the end of the road. Turn left and park near the entrance. We will meet at the gate at 8 and proceed to the left to the Lake shore.
